Rubberworms, with or without sickle tail, are not used a lot in our region.
They are originally developed for black bass, but work very well for zander also.
They are not suited for using with a jig head, but are usually fished on a
Carolina or Texas Rig.
Because bass like to hide out in snaggy places the hook is usually mounted
weedless.
I've had best success with dark colours (like black). The bait is often attacked
on the sink, if not, you retrieve it with slow twitches. The best way to fish it
is from the boat, casting from deep water to shallow places. Then you will
sometimes need just a small pull to evoke a long fall. It shouldn't usually swim
through the open water, like you might do with a grub or shad, but crawl along
the bottom and obstacles.
