On a fishing trip to Sweden the legendary Zalt has
finally found its way into my array of proven lures. It looks quite different
from most other plugs, it is different and it is extremely successful, at least
for pike. The best way to fish it, is with light twitches, making it break out
sideways much like a glider type jerkbait and also rolling quite extreme.
Stronger Jerks will make it do complete rolls, still attracting fish but losing
depth. The sinking and suspending version are more suited to jerking and then
they don't run very deep. This lure has rattles. I think the main attraction is
the unstable swimming during jerks, which is probably due to the position of the
eye at the tip of the "bill". There are a lot of different colours available and
I would say they are all quite good.
