Mepps Comet

The Comet is my favourite spinner for trout and perch. I mainly use the sizes 2 and 3 in the colours red/gold and red/silver but the blue spotted ones work good also. The comet has a slightly elongated and relatively light but easy turning blade. It runs very calm in the current (I think that a lot of spinners make the wire rotate and vibrate too much, which seems to encourage foul bites). It is also apt for still water and downstream spinning because the blade turns so easily. It won't go very deep though, especially if a faster presentation is required or in the current.

A special colour variant of the comet is sold as "Black Fury". The blade is covered by a black foil with yellow, chartreuse or red dots. The blade itself is often also black but I have seen variant with a silver blade as well. The yellow spotted one is one of my favourites for summerly low water trout fishing.
