11.05.2006Most friendly, a fishing shop (Spinner
und co) has left me 3 crankbaits for testing. I don't want to rob
you of my first impression of the still unfished lures: The Mango Black Magic (11cm) has a quite unusual colour and finish
which should give it an "exotic bonus" on heavily fished waters. It's
real secret is revealed on the photo from above: the asymmetric waves on
the body should induce some interesting turbulences to the water and
that is an important factor fir predators, which is often overlooked. A
weakness are the thin split rings, especially as it is known, that you
are not safe from (big) catfish with this lure. |
Dear people, "Spin Fishing for Predators" has moved! You are at the new address: http://www.spinnfischen.info Thus finally an own domain and a server which gives me more possibilities. Soon to come here: a report on my adventure of fishing in the Po for giant catfish (wels).
I've completely completed the translation of the whole tackle section.
Going back in time, I translated the report of my 2004 Gran Canaria Holiday. Read how I caught my biggest ever fish!
We all know we are being cheated by the industry concerning (mainly) the diameter of braided lines. A fisherman went through the pain of testing diameter and tensile strength of several braids and he published the results: test of diameter and strength of braided fishing lines (in German).
Happy new year and I've finally done it: the whole lure section is translated!
And now the report on the fall holidays in gran canaria is online (black bass!). I've also translated the complete spinners and plugs parts of the lure section.
A few short news:
Rapala finally managed to update there website with the new
range of lures.
Sadly I've noticed that the new sinking Super Shad Rap is gone, I'm hoping for
slight differences in the European assortment, otherwise it'll be back to
drilling and gluing them super shads.
There's a new German initiative
for catch and release. Let's hope it is of some use! (you might not know it,
but c&r is practically Illegal in Germany and most fisherman don't do it anyway)
All online pages of German fishing magazines are ignoring it so far. That's not
all to surprising, they've always had trouble dealing with that issue...
And two positive news on rare species: in the Birs enormous amounts of
"endangered"
European
brook lamprey have been found. The fish of the year 2006 (in Germany and
Austria), the
bullhead, is supposed to have populated the lower stretches of the Rhine
from Holland to Karlsruhe in a new crossbred form with less appetite for oxygen.
Oh, and I've just translated the sections on zander
and black bass.
Still translating those lures. And the report on my Swedish summer vacation has gone online.
Prayers are still being heard, Rapala is bringing out a larger X-Rap (as well
as smaller one, a deeper diving one and a jointed one)! Read about it in this
report of the I-Cast
2005, you'll have to scroll down a bit or just soak up all the other new
stuff, which stands before Rapala alphabetically, it's also interesting!
I am working heavily on the translation of the lure
section.
Finally I translated the report of the vestervik trip.
I'm back from my Trip too Sweden for two weeks now, but I'm not really
getting along with all the updates to my site. For now take a look at three new
Lures (Zalt,
X-Rap, Manta),
which fished really well there, and my new pb
pike (I've translated that pb list. by the way).
Translation is ongoing. For the moment I'm concentrating on the
Tackle section, as the German part is getting
quite a lot of hits and its not too much to translate. It's also a good
opportunity for updating the original German texts.
09.02.2005
For technical reasons I changed the directories of my homepage to lowercase. The result is, that most pages have lost their google page rank and looking at the statistic I have lost about 2/3 thirds of my usual hits.
I'm going live with the English version of my page today. There's still a lot
to do (translate) but I guess I'll get more done, until google lets you find the
page ;).
For now just remember, that the Icon for the German version looks like this
, the one for English like this
.
